Logo DesignThe logo is arguably the most powerful piece of design. It should be simple, direct and immediate. However, it is at the same time one of the most challenging and complicated pieces of design to effectively construct. Students will be challenged to create a logo redesign for the company of their choice. This redesign should be based on a thoroughly documented process of research and sketching. Research should focus on the intended audience for the company/product and logos and designs from similar companies. Students are reminded to keep it simple and to showcase their understanding of mass, shape, space and line.
Students will be expected to demonstrate how well they understand Adobe Illustrator tools and techniques when creating vector imagery from scratch based on their own sketches and drawings. This project may be resubmitted for a higher score. The project rubric is attached at the bottom of this page, and professional logo examples may be found to the right. Before beginning work on this project, students will be asked to read the article linked below on logo design tips and to be prepared to defend and demonstrate how they used at least ten of these pro tips. |
