Grid Transfer Drawing
The Grid Transfer Drawing project introduces students to the method of drawing from reference material. Students will select an image to recreate using the grid transfer technique. Students are encouraged to bring in their own photographic reference material. Once the image has been lightly transferred to the drawing paper with pencil, students will have the option of creating their image using graphite pencil textures or colored pencil. Rather than simply reproducing the original image, students are strongly encouraged to explore techniques and compositional arrangements that will allow the final work to reflect distinct individual creativity and not just a carbon-copy.
Examples can be found to the right. The project rubric is attached at the bottom of the page.
