Pop Art PaintingThis project is intended to provide students with an introduction of working with acrylic paint and producing a basic cohesive composition. Students will use a photograph of a simple object and manipulate the image in photoshop in order to exaggerate the light and dark values. Utilizing the grid transfer process covered in Drawing One, students will transfer the image from their print out to their canvas in a clean pencil outline. Students are expected to utilize one of the 8 basic color schemes or on of the 7 color contrasts (see color theory) in their work. Students are also encouraged to explore and experiment with different types of paint application and stylization in order to make the final work uniquely their own. The rubric for this project is attached at the bottom of this page.
