Advanced Drawing & Painting
This course will build upon the knowledge and skills gained in Drawing 1 and Painting 1. While a strong emphasis on the basic techniques and processes of drawing and painting will remain, students will be expected to solve more complicated and advanced visual problems. Students will also be introduced to a wider variety of media that may include charcoal, pastel, chalk, design markers, watercolor and acrylic and/or oil paint. Exploration of drawing from multiple sources such as life, photographs, and student imagination will be encouraged. Weekly class critiques will be conducted. Art history will be discussed daily with a summative exam at finals.
This course is constructed with a more open-ended design. Students will be presented with a series of standards and learning targets that they will be expected to meet in order to fulfill the course requirements. Each standard and/or learning target will require a minimum number of artifacts (projects) for completion. Students may select from projects introduced and provided by the instructor, or they may elect to propose alternate projects. |
